NICK'S TOMATOE PIE - Jupiter, FL

Nick's Tomatoe Pie is a restaurant that is extremely established in Jupiter. It opened its door in 1992 and has become a household name here in Jupiter. As you walk into Nick's Tomatoe Pie, you feel a sense of "hominess" as well as just plain fun.  With Giant Tomatoes hanging from the ceiling to fresh crates of tomatoes as you walk in, you know that your next hour will be a great experience.

Once seated we were greeted by a pleasant waitress from New York.  We were served bread and roasted garlic cloves in olive oil immediatly.  Delicious!!

On each table they have a large bottle of house red wine for 7.99 a glass.  Go ahead and serve yourself a glass.  It is on the honor system, so you refill your glass yourself and just tell the waitress at the end of the night how many glasses you have had.  I poured myself quite a glass!

As always, I like to get the staff's opinion in regards to house specialties and favorites from the menu.  She had suggested the Chicken Marsala, Pasta Bolognese, and Zuppa di Pesce (one of the more expensive dishes on the menu.)  Surprisingly she didn't seem too impressed with their "Tomatoe Pie", as we thought that would be the specialty because of the name.

All entrees are served with a soup or salad.

I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, one of the recommendations, and had a house salad to start.  The Bolognese was full of tomato flavor where I was expecting more of a meatier taste.  I honestly prefer the meat sauce from Carraba's.

Keir had the house salad as well and the Eggplant Parmigiana   It was massive!  You definitely get some bang for your buck here.  The Eggplant Parmigiana was tasty however it could have used a little more sauce.

Carl ordered the Chicken Parmigiana.  Two nice size pieces of chicken.  The chicken was tender and cooked well.  I think we all agreed it was good, but not spectacular.  With Italian dishes, sauce is a big deal and that can really make or break the dish.  The tomato sauce is here is just a little bland.  As I said before, I would prefer Carraba's.

Brandt ordered the Manicotti that was deliciously stuffed with Ricotta. YUM!

At this point we were having a pasta overload.  Nick's Tomatoe Pie is a great casual place to go with the family and has been in Jupiter for years.  The food was good, the price is reasonable, and portions are extremely large.( I had a great lunch the next day.)  I do not foresee myself running back to Nick's.  There are many other Italian restaurants I would love to try before I go back.  I would have loved to try their pizza.  So, I will have that on my list for next time!

Cheers!
