Hog Snappers is small and when I say small I mean really small! When we arrived around 7pm last night, I think there may have been more people waiting outside to get a table then actually people eating inside. Thankfully they are in the process of expanding, but this "hole in the wall" restaurant is worth the wait!
When we arrived,we were told the wait was an hour and 45 minutes. "Ok, no problem, we will have a drink at the bar" Not so fast, no bar here! The restaurant is too small for that. Luckily Tequesta Brewing Company ( one of my faves for sure) is right next door. So we were able to grab a few house made brews to make the wait go by faster.
When are table was FINALLY ready, I was pleasantly surprised the Hogs Snapper Hostess came in to Tequesta Brewing Company to let us know our table was ready..How Nice!
Tables at the restaurant are tight, so you will get friendly with your neighbors. I actually enjoyed it because I already know I will be ordering the New England Clam Chowder next time I visit Hog Snappers due to the fact I had a great view of the Chowder from the friendly local next to me.
Once we sat down, we ordered a few drinks and appetizers right away. Again, Only Beer and Wine at this local establishment.
We started with the Crab Dip! Very Tasty and sooo Crabby!
And the Raw Blue Point Oysters..My Fav! And they even give you an additional Oyster shooter!
(I did eat a few before taking the picture)
And the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake..Everyone starting diving in before I snapped a shot of one of the thickest crab cakes I have ever had! I will have to bring my Maryland friends here..that will be the real test!
Now for the Entrees. When I asked the waitress, "Whats the best?" She didn't hesitate to answer," Crab Crusted Snapper."
I really liked that because often when I ask that question, you get an annoying response, "Everything is so great and amazing here, you cant go wrong." I appreciated the honesty and the Enthusiasm! Even though everything I tasted last night, I loved!
Three people at our table took the waitress' suggestion and ordered the Crab Crusted Sanpper. It even comes with Lobster-Crab Mashed Potatoes...AHHHHHHHH! Seriously a MUST ORDER!!!
Our Other friend Diana ordered the Cayo Hueso Roll. The roll is Tuna, Salmon, Cream Cheese, Avocado, and topped with Spicy Conch Salad. You would think by the description, the conch salad would be a small component to the roll...but oh no..look below!
And if you are looking for a Salad..they have that too! Our Friend ordered the Baby Spinach Salad with Shrimp!
We were stuffed and didn't get to try dessert, but I will most definitely come back. The menu has so many things I would love to try. They even have a 2 pound burger call the Spike Burger that if you eat it all, you win a free t-shirt! I would love to see that!
Many people at the restaurant ordered the "Tequesta Seafood Feast", which comes out in a big stainless steel bowl, full of seafood, potatoes, and corn on the cob! Another Must Try, but this looks a little messy, so be prepared to get dirty!
So many wonderful, desirable things! I cant wait to go back. Next time I will arrive earlier, but it was worth the wait!!!
Cheers!
